Dr. Newlon received her BS from the University of Memphis, where she competed on the University of Memphis Women’s Basketball Team. She received her MD from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. Dr. Newlon is board certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology. Upon graduation as the valedictorian of her class in medical school, Dr. Newlon received her commission as Captain in the United States Army. After completion of her dermatology residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Newlon was stationed at Ft Jackson, South Carolina. In 2010, she was deployed to Bagram, Afghanistan where she served as the lone dermatologist in theater for six months. As an Army officer, Dr. Newlon cared for not only active duty and retired soldiers, but also their spouses and children. Dr. Newlon resigned from military service with the rank of Major. Dr. Newlon returned to her hometown of McComb in July 2013, and joined McComb Skin Clinic at that time. She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Mississippi State Medical Association, the Mississippi Dermatology Society, the Louisiana Dermatology Society, and the South Central Mississippi Medical Society. Dr. Newlon’s greatest interest is medical dermatology.
